Hoogeveen Plants

Consistent quality through cultivation registration and analysis

Hoogeveen Plants operates multiple nurseries where quality is paramount. To maintain and strengthen their position as a leading producer of garden plants, they continuously integrate innovative cultivation techniques. With the Log & Solve dashboard, Hoogeveen Plants optimizes the production of Helleborus by centrally registering and analyzing cultivation processes and environmental factors in one integrated platform.

Data sources

By leveraging precise Tentacle soil moisture sensors, Hoogeveen Plants continuously monitors the irrigation dynamics around the crop. These sensors, strategically placed deep within the potting substrate, provide highly accurate measurements of moisture levels, ensuring optimal root zone conditions. Additionally, other critical data sources are integrated for a comprehensive understanding of crop quality. For instance, lab data from Eurofins enables real-time monitoring of EC and pH levels—two essential parameters for robust root development and efficient nutrient uptake.

Thanks to the data-explorer functionality within the Log & Solve platform, all measured data is clearly visualized, allowing for easy trend recognition and in-depth analysis. This data-driven approach empowers Hoogeveen Plants not only to maintain control over standard cultivation processes but also to efficiently compare the impact of innovative trials, such as peat-free growing media.

Quality control

Furthermore, Hoogeveen Plants utilizes the platform’s quality control features to document the condition of young plant materials, including newly delivered cuttings. By capturing and storing images over time, they can systematically assess incoming material quality and monitor its progression throughout the cultivation cycle. These images serve as valuable reference points, enabling a retrospective analysis of initial plant conditions and their development.

Helleborus is a delicate crop requiring a stable climate and precise cultivation strategies. Even minor fluctuations in growing conditions can significantly impact the quality of young plant material. By centrally registering all relevant data and conducting structured analyses, Hoogeveen Plants ensures consistently high-quality production while minimizing the risk of growth disruptions, regardless of location or external factors.

“Log & Solve enables us to confidently implement new cultivation strategies, such as transitioning to alternative substrates, making our operations more future-proof. Moreover, the platform helps us address evolving market demands and cultivation challenges with data-driven insights”
