Webinar GDD takeaways
Achieving the highest possible yield and the best crop quality are two goals every grower strives for. To come close to these goals, timing within the growing season is crucial. How do you stay in control throughout the season? One of the ways is to guide your decisions based on Growing Degree Days (GDD). In our latest webinar, we took enthusiastic growers through the application of the GDD strategy.
3 Insights:
- You use Growing Degree Days for predicting harvest (or other growth stages); it is twice as accurate as calendar days. This allows you to optimally plan when to execute your crop actions and make the most of your resources.
- Growing Degree Days provide insight into the development of the plant. For the various life stages, the plant requires a certain number of degree days. The speed of going through these life stages is driven by temperature.
- To set up a good Growing Degree Days strategy, you need: base temperature, a goal with the corresponding number of degree days, start & end date, temperature measurements.
Besides the theory, we also showed how to use this strategy in practice with the help of the Growing Degree Days application. Regretting that you didn’t participate? No worries. Watch the webinar via the button below:
