Cultivation of the future: Beekenkamp x 30MHz

Cultivation of the future: Beekenkamp x 30MHz

Growing for the future is best done when we do it together. Beekenkamp and 30MHz have been working together for over 5 years. With this bond of trust, it’s possible to critically examine current cultivation solutions and how we can strengthen them in the future. That’s why a joint innovation afternoon was organized in May focusing on digital solutions for the propagation of young plants.

During this session, the status and developments were discussed with various 30MHz and Beekenkamp departments (Leafy Vegetables, Fruit Vegetables, and Ornamentals). Participants enthusiastically shared knowledge, discussed the use of sensor data, explored the possibilities of digital alerts, as well as limitations. Tips and tricks were exchanged among colleagues, leading to a better shared understanding.

Beekenkamp aims to further professionalize the monitoring of cultivation in multiple departments. The wireless 30MHz sensors provide the opportunity to continue monitoring this cultivation at different locations. The challenge lies in recording the data in a way that can be easily retrieved afterwards. How do you link a department or registration number to a specific sensor? Colleague Jasper Geurtsen immediately saw various possibilities to apply this within the platform. One of the key learnings we take away is the importance of maintaining an overview within the platform to better track historical cultivation data.
